A lifelong resident of the Presidential Hills, Godson Royal, born Roy Nelson, was born in a two-parent household of eight children. Coming up in a drug-filled haven of poverty and criminality, Godson became both a negative and positive byproduct of his surroundings. After a trail of tears consisting of dead friends and incarcerated loved ones, music saved the life of this urban concrete survivor. Godson invested in studio equipment. By the time he was 17, he had all amassed the same equipment as those used by platinum-selling artists. Spending 12 to 14 hours in the studio every day, he taught himself to record and produce music.
